First Aid at Work Recertification (HABC Level 3)

Who is it for?:

 

The qualification is aimed at learners already working or preparing to work in industry that is identified within the company's risk assessment of First Aid. The qualification has a recommended course duration of 2 days; however the course duration may be increased to meet additional learning needs if required but not reduced.

Pre-requisites:

Candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline and must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requires that all people attending a recertification course prove their existing first aid qualification prior to attending this course.

 

Course Content Includes:

  • The roles and responsibilities of the first aider.

  • Assessing an incident.

  • Recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness.

  • assisting a casualty who is suffering from minor and major injury and illness.

  • Chest injuries.

  • Spinal Injuries.

  • Anaphylaxis.

  • This course also includes AED machine training.

 

Assessment of this qualification is by ongoing assessment and oral questioning.

 

Qualification:

 

HABC First aid at work (FAW) certificate, valid for 3 years.

 

Notes:

Candidates must hold and must produce to the customer service centre a first aid at work or first aid at work recertification certificate, which is valid for the duration of the training, prior to the course booking being confirmed. This can be renewed up to 3 months early with the unexpired portion being added to the new certificate.
