• Communication - what it is and the benefits.

• Barriers to effective communication.

• Communication and emotion.

• Rights and responsibilities.

• Assertive, aggressive and passive behaviours.

• 3 steps to assertive behaviour to encourage others and to produce workable compromises.

• Developing and maintaining rapport through body language and positive words/phrases.

• Active listening skills.

• 15 assertive tactics, including broken record and self disclosure techniques.

• Saying no assertively.

• Role play in dealing with situations at work that require a degree of assertiveness.

 

Delegates rate themselves at the start and finish of the training course to establish the extent to which they have benefited. This also gives the delegate, and their line manager, further analysis of their strengths, highlighting any further development needs.
